Christopher Pace resigned as the Marble Falls High School volleyball head coach after one year at the helm.

Pace accepted the job in the spring of 2024 and guided the Lady Mustangs to a 21-18 overall record and 5-7 in District 24-4A play. Marble Falls lost to Jarrell in a play-in match for the final postseason berth.

It was the program’s best finish in more than a decade.

“Coach Pace did a great job,” athletic director Keri Timmerman said. “He found an opportunity in San Antonio closer to family. He’s stepping outside of coaching. He did a really good job.”

The Lady Mustangs were good in 2024. Timmerman believes they’ll be better in 2025. The reason is because of the amount of talent returning. While the program says good-bye to Mia Trejo, the undisputed leader of the team, it returns rising seniors Tessie Bowen, Kenadi Dalton, Kate McCary and Leslie Reynoso, rising juniors Madison Cuplin, Katie Terrell and Hannah Welch and rising sophomore Brighton Bernard.

They played significant minutes last season where Pace was committed to building depth in almost every position.

They are the main reason why Timmerman said, “I think we have a lot of talent. It’s a good job.”

Add in the community support led by families, the Marble Falls Independent School District staff, and fans of the program, and he believes the program can continue an upward trend.

The athletic director noted Marble Falls Middle School has seventh and eighth-graders, who are showing the ability to play and win, too.

“We have a group of young girls at the middle school and high school who have found a fire,” he said. “They found a new level of work. We have a lot of our girls playing at the club level. They had a change in style with coach Pace. They realized they were hungry.”

Pace resigned Feb. 21 and the job has drawn several applicants since it was posted. Timmerman said the district is still accepting applications.

“We feel like we have a good pool,” he said. “We’re excited to see what we get and excited to find the right person to lead them.”
